Are we really being positive?

Many say that Positive thinking depends on the attitude. It makes you a winner or a loser. Whatever you think you can or cannot do, you’re right! And the thoughts and attitude control our path and destiny.

Somebody once told me that we cannot change the past, we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have and that is the attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to us, and 90% how we react to it. We all remember Shakespeare’s liner “To be or not to be”. Our very attitude will determine it. The positive thinking means putting effort in order to fulfill out true potential. Life is about us and how we feel about ourselves, not about whether we’re born to riches or poverty.

It’s all about self-image. So, what’s important to us? We must choose it or it will be chosen for us. We might be afraid to just let go and give everything we got. Don’t approach anything with our half mind engaged. We must trust everything in life and give everything we have. But many questions pop us like “What if I make mistake”? Well if we do.. We’re human and we make a lot of mistakes. What’s important is whether or not we learn from those mistakes. Watch your words and thoughts. The most often we say negative things, the stronger those thoughts become and more you’ll believe them. Whatever happened in our past, in our childhood or early adulthood, it’s time to start talking nicer to ourselves. We deserve to be kind to us. Don’t let other people’s attitude affect your own. These are led by their negativity.

We cannot control what other people say, or think. What do you do when someone says hurtful things to you? If you have found the positive side of the situation and have shown kindness, this would mean that it’s not really about you at all. All people are entitled to their opinion and some of them differ from ours. It doesn’t mean it should upset you, it’s simply their opinion. There are many opinions as there are many people in this world, not everyone is going to agree with us in any issue. But truth is truth no matter what one may say. To keep the positive faith active, spend time with friends and family and be persistent. Let us fulfill the priority of life and that is happiness and success.

Tales from Panchatantram

A very long time ago, there lived a farmer and his wife. They had a new born baby. The farmer's wife wanted to have a pet animal. They had a talk and decided to get a mongoose. So they bought a mongoose and started feeding it. A couple of months later, one day the farmer and his wife were talking to their friends just outside their house.

After a while the farmer's wife came inside the home and found that the mouth of the mongoose was stained with blood and she immediately thought that the mongoose had killed the child. In anger she threw a box on the mongoose and the mongoose was hurt very badly. She then rushed inside to see what happened to the baby. She was surprised to find a dead snake lying in the room. She guessed that the mongoose had saved the child's life by killing the snake. Realizing the mistake she went out of the room only to find the mongoose dead on the floor. She cried a lot at her hasty decision.
The farmer then told the wife "Don't act in haste. Think and act."

Where do we get ideas from?

The great American satirist Tom Lehner had a song that gave the secret of success in a single word. The example he used was academic promotion, but the same thing applies in writing, politics and anything that involves having ideas, mainly business. He even used the word 'plagiarise' and sang "let no one else's work evade your eyes, so don't shade your eyes but plagiarise..."
Where do people get ideas for new businesses? From other people. The best way to find your way out of a particular problem is to try and think of a business idea or work out how to get a new job. Look at how other people have done it before, make a note of their experiences and then adapt their ideas to suit yourself. This is one of the key lessons we were taught for our MBA course: Learn from other people's experience. We can do this in any way like watching various business talks on television, or reading about them. What worked for them might just work for us!

We need to know ourselves. With most of us, there is an embarrassing gap between our self-image and the way other people see us. We all dream of having the sort of contacts that we can ring up and hear them say: "Job?" We all know that it does not happen that easily. But what our friends or business acquaintances can do is give us a different angle on our own talents, strong points and weaknesses. What do they thing we are good at? They may have spotted sides of our personality that we haven't appreciated. A year back I spoke to a young woman who resides a few miles away from my University. She was running a very successful crystal business. She'd been trying to work out how she could use her skills as an accountant. And it was only when another friend pointed out to her how much she seemed to enjoy her crystal business that the Bid Idea hit her. Now, she's not only making more money than she was before, she's a lot happier too.

Friends don't only have ideas - they have friends too. It only takes one friend-of-a-friend speaking to a total stranger to say this and suddenly your new business has its first customer. So you gotta have friends but your best and biggest friend of all is the telephone. Get on it and make it work for you.

This is a cheering thought - We have more skills and talents than we know. Whatever experience it is that we think has taught us something. Sometimes, those extra skills that we don't even realise we possess can be the ones that generate business. So the final point is - let us think laterally.

Never say never

It almost goes without saying that entrepreneurs and other leaders love a challenge. These leaders are driven by these challenges to succeed. They measure success in many ways, such as money, recognition, fame and power. But more than that if you tell them it cannot be done because no one has ever done it before they light up. They need to make it happen. I always believed that when any opportunity arises, one should always have a look at it.

The sheer enthusiasm of an entrepreneur should be infectious and hugely motivating. A successful businessman or woman is prepared to get up again and again when they are knocked down. If they are prepared to get their hands dirty and have the utmost faith in their business and self-confidence then the odds are in their favor. We should always prepare for the risk and foresee the risk. They don't waste their time daydreaming about success. They get an idea and act swiftly. This persistence has to go hand in hand with a strong sense of self belief.
What makes a successful entrepreneur
1. Discipline
2. Focus
3. Vision
If we lose either of these, then we are bound to lose the track.
Entrepreneurship is not for the faint hearted. If the entrepreneur does not have the courage to take a leap into the unknown, then you will never hear of their business.

Holiday in France

What is the most romantic city in the world? More than half of the globe says it's Paris! I didn't understand what is there in Paris that makes it such a lovely place to visit.
My trip to France made me understand the real essence for being in Paris. First, I visited Metz, France. I had a close encounter with the French people, cuisine, architecture, shopping etc. I have seen the most beautiful cathedrale ever. I was astonished by the architecture, the sculptures and the statues. The glass painting has awe-struck me. Indeed the most beautiful cathedrale! The lighting has elevated its elegant beauty. It was a good experience learning and understanding French. I liked the food and wine. Since Metz was close to Belgium, we had a chance to eat Belgique chocolates and food. Whatmore, it is a heaven for fine chocolates and desserts. This region is called Lorraine and it was the birthplace of Champagne. I had a champagne made of a locally grown popular fruit Mirabelle. That was the best champagne I ever had. There was a harvest festival and got to see a lot of authentic French stuff like subtle aromatic perfumes, lamps, jewellery and more.

Took a train journey from Metz to Paris in TGV. This TGV is inter-national train service and connects many countries in Europe. The train journey is recommended because we can get to see the scenic landscapes and the beautiful small villages.

Paris is the fashion capital of the world. I had seen the best perfumes, best clothes, best food, best paintings, best wine, best architecture, best shopping experience ever. The beauty of Eiffel tower mesmerised me both at daytime and night view. We were admiring seeing the tower for hours together, such is the attraction we have for the tower. Musee du Lovre is the famous museum which houses hundreds of famous paintings, sculptures etc. I have seen the most beautiful painting of Leonardo da Vinci. It's the Mona Lisa painting. Notre Dame is the famous church in Paris. I have no words to express the beauty of this church. It was very beautiful and peaceful church.

Galleries Lafayette is the biggest shopping attraction in Paris. It houses popular brands like Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana, Gucci, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Guess and many leading designer brands. Very fine clothing, awesome boots, and exotic jewellery. This is one of the cities we would like to visit again.

Human Nature

People are always born good. But what decides the true nature of a person? Every individual is either good/bad or both. Every person responds to a situation in a different way. It is how you perceive the incident that makes them good or bad. What looks bad to me might look good to you. It is all in our mind. Why do we care if someone is wrong. We just have to look at the good attributes a person has. In this competitive world we always thrive to be successful and be noticed. In situations like these we might end up doing some things that are wrong. So, wrong things are bad for some.
Negative thoughts tend to multiply in us. These thoughts eat us from within. So, instead of pinpointing others for their mistakes, let us do some exercises like seeing at least few good things in every person we meet. As the days pass by, we start feeling good about ourselves and the people around us. Love all, serve all. Let us feed our brains with good thoughts. Trust me, we will be healthy! Let us lead a good path and set a glorious path for our kids and generations to come.
